Operating System: How to Use AI Without Losing Your Credibility
If you’re a senior marketer, the goal isn’t to become “the AI person.” The goal is to stay the person people trust, while moving faster than you did before.
Here’s the operating system I recommend. It’s simple on purpose:
1) Start with your POV (2 minutes).
What are the outcomes? Who’s the audience? What are the constraints and why do they matter? What decision are we making?
2) Use AI as a thinking partner, not a decision-maker.
Ask for options. Ask for counterarguments. Ask what you’re missing. Ask it to stress-test assumptions.
3) Do the human pass.
Validate facts. Add context. Align with brand reality. Tighten the narrative so it sounds like you, not like a template. You know your audience better than AI, so use your best judgment.
That’s it. AI drafts, but leaders decide. If you follow this, you won’t just move faster, you’ll move with more confidence because your work can survive scrutiny.
Next week, we’ll close this 6-part series with something practical: a weekly habit that turns AI from “random prompts” into a playbook you can reuse and that makes you noticeably more effective over time.
If you want help building your own playbook (for your role, your industry, your leadership style), this is something I do inside my coaching work, especially for leaders stepping into new roles or preparing for interviews. Book a FREE consultation now to learn more.
